Kristen Gets Inside Bella's Head

Thursday, June 11, 2009

It is the role that catapulted her to stardom, and Kristen Stewart is about to reprise her part as Bella in the hotly anticipated sequel to Twilight — New Moon

What is it like to be back on set doing another Twilight film?
It’s a little bit surreal to be back doing a second one, just because it’s something that I thought about for an entire year and now it’s happening. But it’s sort of like I couldn’t wait any longer.
It’s hard. Usually you finish a movie and there’s a very long grieving process.

You have to lose the character. You have to drop it from your mind or else it just continues to bug you. In this case, I couldn’t drop her completely and I worked in between, which is a strange sensation. It’s weird how easy it was to slip right back into it. I don’t know if it’s because I have such a reference, like the book, or because I knew that I just had to do it. I don’t know, but it feels good. It feels like I can finally release the pressure.

Isn’t that pressure kind of self-inflicted?
Yeah, I have that feeling on every movie that I do. It’s just that this one, I had to wait a year. Unless there’s something about the story or that character I’m playing that literally needs to be fulfilled -- like, consummated -- unless it’s actually lived through and physically manifested, it’s just a story and it’s not done. So until you actually bring it to life, you basically have the capability of murdering the character on the page. If you don’t do it justice, then nobody else is ever going to see those things and you’re never going to learn from those experiences because you didn’t do it right.

So yeah, the thought of having to live through something that I find so worthwhile, and then subsequently have people learn from that through your own experience, I would do anything. I would jump off a cliff for it. Oh! There’s cliff-jumping in our movie. Perfect! (Laughs)

What are the changes in this second installment? Your character Bella takes risks again…Well, she loses what basically gives her the drive to do anything in her whole life. She loses the man she’s in love with, but she also loses her entire life plan, and she’s so young to have to be forced into a decision like that. It’s just a glorified, elaborate version of the worst breakup you’ve ever been through. All of a sudden you question everything. All of a sudden you know nothing and you’re dropped in the middle of a freezing cold ocean.
Oddly, we have a character that’s warm enough and bright enough to bring her out of that, and it’s truly gut-ripping. Because as perfect as Jacob is for her, she holds on to an ideal, the ultimate fiery love that she has for Edward even though it’s not comfortable, it’s not practical and it’s not a good idea. So it’s really a very strong thing to do. It takes someone who really trusts themselves.
So basically the movie starts out and everything’s great, and then it gets absolutely terrible, and then it gets maybe OK again, and then it’s" no, no, no, no – life is hard." It’s going to get hard again because he comes back again.

Is she introverted or just seeking an ideal?
It’s not that she’s incredibly introverted. She’s just yet to have found a connection that is truthful. She’s a seeker of the truth. She’s not one to get wrapped up in something that is a fantasy. She doesn’t set herself up for disappointment. So that’s what makes the story with her and Edward so compelling, in that this is a girl that normally wouldn’t do something this crazy.

So what does Kristen prefer, the werewolf or the vampire?
Kristen shouldn’t open her mouth (Laughs). Kristen is entirely torn. Kristen should stop using her name in the third person.

You were virtually unknown when you shot Twilight. How has your life changed since its phenomenal success?
My life hasn’t changed. Most circumstances I find myself in are different than they were a year ago, but I myself haven’t changed...however a normal 18-year-old girl would change in a year. But it makes things so much easier. I would do it for free every day [even] if nobody saw it. I cannot describe how good it feels to actually have something that is truly into your heart and soul actually affecting people. And that’s amazing. So that’s the biggest change.

Alert: Robert Pattinson fans, watch out!

This is a harsh, harsh, harsh article for all you Robert fans, thanks to Lainey Gossip. Don't say I didn't warn you.

He wasn't spreading it well. The virus I mean.

Ebola Hilton is single. She and that useless **** Doug have split up as confirmed by People.com. No reason was cited but it's obvious: He wasn't getting it enough publicity. And you know, its popularity is waning. We've seen its hoo hoo so many times already, we know it can throw up bulimic at a moments notice...and with someone as insignificant as Doug, Ebola simply wasn't infecting the masses as rapidly as it needs to.

Paul Allen wouldn't let it on his boat. So it needs a new host. And it's now looking for a new victim. A famous victim.

Who is the most eligible victim in the world right now?

Robert Pattinson.

Look out Twi-hards. It has tried once already. And it will keep trying. It will do whatever it takes. It will open its black hole vagina, suffocate him with its disease, and it will try to fangbang its way onto his marble member.

I said it before, I will say it again:

If Robert Pattinson PUBLICLY rejects Ebola Hilton he'll earn top spot on my Freebie Five for a year. Hell, I'll even wear a Twilight t-shirt at my birthday party.

And the worst part is... it seems truthful!!

GRR PARIS. GRR.

Its like she wants the world to hate her..

'Twilight' Stars Reveal 'New Moon' Secrets!

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — It's one of the most anticipated films of 2009 and already has hundreds of fan sites devoted to it. Now, the stars of "New Moon" are revealing details about key scenes from the flick that will surprise even the most die-hard fans.

"There's definitely a difference in scale," marveled Robert Pattinson when we caught up with him recently. "I liked doing 'Twilight,' but it felt very much like an indie movie — and ['New Moon'] definitely feels like it's a big movie."

"Kristen [Stewart] and Taylor [Lautner] had to lobby to get this one scene in the film that wasn't originally in — and I am forever indebted to them for that," revealed Mike Welch, citing a beloved moment from Stephenie Meyer's "New Moon" novel. "There's a scene that's in the book, the three-way date between Jacob and Bella and Mike, where Mike ends up getting sick, and it's just very awkward."

As for how physically ill Welch's Mike Newton gets in the comic-relief scene, he said we shouldn't expect projectile vomit or anything. "We're talking a little bit," he laughed. "A little sick."

"We did a lot of improv on set," Lautner said. "We'd just be in a random forest and, after Jacob transforms [into a wolf], he all of a sudden becomes very agile, and I wanted to show that, because pre-transformation, he's clumsy. But as soon as he transforms, he's agile. So we'd be in a random forest, and I'd be looking around going, 'What can I do to show Jacob's agility in here?'

"Sometimes [director] Chris [Weitz] would be like, 'No, Taylor, we don't want you getting hurt, spraining an ankle,' " Lautner recalled. "But I was like, 'Well, how about I just jump off that and then jump through this?' And he was like, 'All right, give it a shot.' "

The immensely popular "New Moon" trailer gives us a peek at Lautner's athleticism. It also gives us our first look at the infamous birthday scene — a moment that actor Jackson Rathbone had been eager to shoot ever since he landed the role of anguished vampire Jasper Hale.

"He unleashed the madness; it was crazy," Peter Facinelli remembered of the day when Rathbone finally got to display his inner animal and attack Kristen Stewart's Bella. "It took me and Kellan — non-acting — to hold him back."

Elizabeth Reaser also got knocked over during the violent take. "Jasper, played by Jackson Rathbone, kinda loses it when Bella cuts herself," Kellan Lutz recalled. "It's fun to work with your friends and see a side of them that you really don't expect. That's where the acting comes into play. Jackson did an amazing job portraying that scene, and it was fun being my character to try and stop him."

Speaking of favorite scenes, Greene also got to shoot hers — a high-octane moment where Alice Cullen steals a yellow Porsche in Italy. "It was really fun. I worked with a stuntman before actually driving it and learned how to do a bunch of unnecessary things that were fun, like fishtailing, and he was gonna teach me drifting," Greene laughed. "I drove it in a scene and came about 2 inches from the wall!"

"I hate you," a jealous Lutz joked.

"I know," Greene said. "Oh, my gosh — everyone does right now!"

"[The whole film] looks completely different, so it'll be interesting," Pattinson said, looking forward to the November 20 "New Moon" release. "I'm very curious to see what it looks like."

The New Moon date between Mike, Bella, & Jacob was almost left out!

Ashley Greene: Alice Cullen is perky!

Ashley Greene looks cute in black bowler hat in this shot from Nylon Guys magazine.
The 22-year-old Twilight actress dished to the mag on her character Alice Cullen, the paparazzi and being an L.A. transplant. Check it:

On being caught by the paparazzi: “You don’t want to have your picture taken when you’re coming out of a club all wasted. It’s tough… I get a call from my mom in the morning, and she says, ‘So I see you went out again last night.’ I might as well have a GPS chip in my skin, but no, I have the Internet.”

On her Twilight character, vampiress Alice Cullen: “The Happiest, Perkiest, Cutest girl you’d never expect.”

On co-star Robert Pattinson’s newfound fame: “Oh God. Poor Rob is already a Beatle. His whole life is documented. If he picks his nose, it’s all over the Internet. He’s just done for. I think he’s kinda freakin’ out, like, ‘What the **** is going on?”

On relocating to Los Angeles her senior year of high school: “You’re 17. There are no adults. It’s L.A. And so I went through this stage where I would just go out, not be responsible, not focus on work or class, and my management was like, ‘Listen, you could go either way. You could be this person - I won’t name names - a reality show actress. Or you could go this way - award-winning actress.’ That was a real shock.”

On getting along with her Twilight family: “We get along really well. And thank God! Can you imagine going back over and over if we didn’t?”

The July 2009 issue of Nylon Guys hits stands this week.
