New Moon Panel at Comic-Con: Hall H 1:45 PST

Saturday, July 25, 2009

The New Moon panel at Comic-Con has concluded. Highlights from G4TV’s coverage by Stephen Johnson include:
  • (after first exclusive clip) Uh oh…Jacob took off his shirt in the clip and the fans went nuts-o-crazy-go-nuts.
  • Fan to Rob: Would you ever do open-mic nights for music, ever again? Rob: Yes. I’d love to do it again. It’s good for your soul.
  • Fan: for Taylor, how was it filming in different weather conditions, half-naked? Taylor: It was cold. There was a day when I was only wearing jean shorts (Cheers from crowd.) It was really really cold, but I’m doing it all for you guys!
  • I should point out that all questions are interupted by screams of “I love you!” and “You’re awesome!” and “wooo!” at random.
  • Rob: Edward’s who character is about restraint, so I always found it difficult to move as the character. So in the new movie, a lot of the shots are set up so that I can move as little a possible. The camera moves more often.
  • Chris Weitz is going to show another scene! The fans go insane. The scene: Alice and Bella racing to save Edward. You remember that scene right?

Rotten Tomatoes has an extensive write-up on the scenes that were shown, including these spoilers for the first clip:

Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) are bent over an antique light blue motorcycle. Jacob wears jeans, a brown t-shirt, and his hair is long. As Bella sits on the motorcycle, Jacob guides her hands (touching!) over the handles. “Brake. Clutch. Gas,” he reminds her. Bella revs the engine. “Slowly release the clutch,” says Jacob.

Suddenly, Bella sees the translucent apparition of Edward, a concerned look on his face, standing in front of her. We can see him, but also see through him. Bella takes off on the bike.
As she zooms down the road, Bella gains speed. She zooms by another apparition of Edward, standing in her path. She speeds by another. Losing focus, Bella swerves and falls from the bike, hitting her head on a rock.

Jacob speeds over to Bella on his own bike, coming to a stop with a flourish. He hops off the bike and rushes to Bella’s side. She is bewildered, and blood gushes from a gash on her forehead.

“Are you trying to get yourself killed?” Jacob asks. Bella apologizes for the blood, but it doesn’t bother Jacob.

He takes a step back, the camera following his every move. Jacob strips off his shirt, revealing a six-pack, and bends down to dab Bella’s wound with it. Their faces come very close.“You’re so beautiful,” she tells him. Emotion flashes across his face.

CORRECTION: It's not "You're so beautiful". It's - "you're sort of beautiful".

Find out what happens in the other scene at Rotten Tomatoes. You can also check out the rest of G4TV’s excellent liveblog coverage as well as the Twitpics from Buzznet.

Breaking Dawn: Will The Movie Beat The book?

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

I found this article on Twifans and it's really interesting!

After Robert Pattinson’s announcement that Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s ridiculously popular Twilight Saga, will hit the big screen, we got to thinking: Will it make a good movie? And more important, will it turn out better than the book?

Breaking Dawn is very different from the first three novels in the series (Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse) and saw numerous mixed reviews during its release week. The millions-strong fan base was divided — everyone either loved it or hated it.

We’ve come up with 10 ways the movie could either rake in major box-office bucks or epically fail in a way not seen since Speed Racer dropped off the face of the planet. Even Pattinson might not be enough to save this one.

1. Bella and Edward's Wedding

The wedding and first 100 pages of Breaking Dawn is, without a doubt, the most entertaining part of the book. It’s like old style Twilight, with every character acting as they should (except for Edward and the garter ... weird much?), and the ever-present Bella-Edward-Jacob love triangle. Unfortunately, the most anticipated event since the Millennium is over all too quickly and things start to get worse as soon as our vampire and his bride reach their honeymoon destination, the Isle Esme. When Breaking Dawn is finally made into a movie, more emphasis should be put into the wedding: It’s the last time a lot of fans felt like they were reading The Twilight Saga and not some dodgy fan-fic found on the Internet.

2. The "Sex" Scenes

Yep, you read that right. Bella and Edward finally get it on, in what can only be described as the most absent sex scene written since the 1900s. The act itself is merely implied, with the only proof it happened some broken headboards and bitten pillows. Oh, and a very bruised Bella. How they’ll portray this in the movie is anyone’s guess, and no doubt complaints of abuse and domestic violence are a big fear of everyone involved with the movie. If it stays rated PG-13 like its predecessors, ardent fans of Bella and Edward can kiss goodbye to their much adored night of passion. Sorry kids, it’s still implication only.

3. Jacob's Third of the Book
Werewolf Jacob takes center stage for a third of the book in what is arguably the best section of the entire 800-page tome. He’s funny, realistic, and probably the only one in the book to actually stay in character. If you were a member of Team Edward before, I guarantee you’ll rethink your loyalty after reading Part 2. The young Jacob Black is seriously that endearing, redeeming what is an otherwise tiresome read. Look for Taylor Lautner to take center stage on the movie posters — he’ll be carrying this one solo.

4. Renesmee's Birth
Normal births are painful, right? They hurt, they’re messy, and yet some women have them time and time again. Stephenie Meyer takes birthing to the next level in Breaking Dawn by having a giant baby literally crack its way out of mommy dearest. Bella’s spine breaks, leaving her writhing around like a beetle stuck on its back. Edward swoops in to the rescue and rips the baby out of Bella’s uterus with his bare-yet-sharp vampire teeth, then proceeds to turn his beloved into a vampire in order to save her fragile human life. PG-13? Uhh ... no, not so much.

5. Renesmee Carlie Cullen
Ignore the name for now, I’ll get to that soon enough. The idea that Bella and Edward could have a half-vampire, half-human baby is absurd, but to actually follow through on that idea is not only ridiculous but unnecessary. It turned Bella into a crazy, Rosalie-dependent robot and made Edward almost non-existent (more on that later). Renesmee is an annoying character and one that I have no desire to see immortalized on a DVD disc. Her accelerated growth and intelligence could prove to be quite a problem for casting agents, not to mention the poor director who has to work with a small child. Then there’s the topic of her name: Renesmee Carlie Cullen, a mishmash of Bella and Edward’s mothers’ (Renee and Esme) and fathers’ (Charlie and Carlisle) names. Eurgh. [Aww, but I think it's kinda cute!]

6. A Major Lack of Edward
We all know that Edward and Robert Pattinson are the driving forces behind this franchise, so what would happen if he ceased to exist for most of the fourth film? You’d have a problem, that’s for sure. In Breaking Dawn Edward is all but forgotten after the first 100 pages or so, and basically just mopes and moans whenever he pops up during the rest of the book. He’s a shadow of his former, chivalrous self and hardly utters a loving word to the girl he’s been waiting an eternity for. Summit would have to change this for the movie or Robert Pattinson may find himself strangely redundant. It’s no fun playing a vampire who’s lost his bite.

7. An Influx of Utterly Pointless Characters
Many new vampires get introduced during the later part of Breaking Dawn. Unfortunately, though, none of them really do much of anything. Yes, they can be pretty entertaining at times, but they’re in no way crucial to the story development. If casting execs can only choose a handful of new characters to cast, my vote would go to Garrett, Kate, Peter, Charlotte, and Alistair. The others (yes, there are plenty more) are barely worth mentioning and should only be cast if Summit suddenly find itself with more cash, and time, than it needs.

8. The Absence of Action
Hardly anyone dies in Breaking Dawn. Come to think of it, hardly anyone fights or even breaks a sweat. The vampire Irina is the only fatality and, seeing as we’re only introduced to her in this book, no one really cares about her anyway. Meyer botched things up when it came to killing her characters, all of whom just live happily ever after. There’s no epic battle like in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In fact, there isn’t a sharpened fang in sight. It’s simple: Movies need action or the audience gets bored. It looks like the screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg, will have to do what she’s done with New Moon and tweak some scenes here and there in order to keep the fans awake.

9. Superfluous Plot Points that Go Nowhere
Bella’s power and J. Jenks. Both of these story developments are emphasized as important and crucial to the plot, yet neither really go anywhere. Yes, Bella saves everyone with her convenient shield that not even the most powerful of vampires can break, but it still wasn’t the revelation it should have been. If this is the reason that Edward can’t read Bella’s mind, I think I’d have preferred not knowing and making my own explanation — I’m sure it would have been better than a Lily Potter-esque love shield. The movie script will need to be edited better than the book or it’ll end up as an 8-hour timesink.

10. A Vampire War that’s Won by ... Talking?
When was the last time you saw bloodthirsty vampires back down because some friendlier vampires asked them to? Never, of course. That’s just not how it works in the world of the undead. They fight, they kill, then they go and toast to their night. They don’t stand around talking for half an hour before deciding they have better things to do. It’s something that can almost be overlooked in a book, but in a movie? No way. Something has to happen to keep the audience entertained, and a friendly chat ain’t going to cut it.

Interview: Kristen Stewart on Playing Joan Jett

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

After being cast as Joan Jett in an upcoming movie, who better to teach Kristen
Stewart about rock 'n' roll than the Seventies rocker herself.

The Twilight actress, 19, has been cast as the I Love Rock 'N' Roll singer, 50, in
the biopic The Runways.

And to prepare for the role, Kristen has been meeting frequently with Joan, real name Joan Larkin, who has given her blessing to the movie about her first band The Runways.

Kristen said:

'I'm just listening to her music all the time. I'm trying to just make myself aware of the time period and what she was going through.

'It's one of the most immense responsibilities to play a real person. Her story's important. It's an incredibly triumphant feminist story really.

'She's the first woman to ever start her own record label. So many people know her as just being like one of the coolest people to ever live. That in itself is one of the most intimidating things that I've ever had to confront but she's so cool too.'

Joan is equally enthusiastic about Kristen: 'When her hair is cut and with the right make-up, Kristen should make a really good me.

'She sounded great and played well (on the guitar). She has the passion for it, which
you can't really be taught.'

The pair originally met over New Year's to discuss the film before Kristen was formally cast in the role.

The film also stars former child actor Dakota Fanning, 15, as The Runways's teenage
frontwoman Cherie Currie, who was the same age as the actress when the group
formed.

Now it's Rob & Emilie! Who next?!

The list may go on and Megan Fox was just the beginning! E! resident gossip columnist warned us to brace ourselves for a long summer of hookup rumors. The latest being that Rob is getting cozy with his 'Remember Me' co-star, Emilie de Ravin; while Kristen is in some jealous rage.

Boy did we smell that one coming from a mile away. Now that total babe Emilie is recently single, there was no doubt this was going to be Rob's latest tabloid victim.

Well, multiple things are wrong here:

First of all, Rob and Kristen have the type of relaysh where there is no way jealousy could come between them. In fact, we're sure they are sitting back and loving these rumors!

See, Robsten will most likely never verbally out themselves as a couple, at least not right now—that's what we're hearing from those who hang with them, on both coasts. The last thing they're going to do is use the media, all Paris Hilton-like, as a vehicle to chat about their relaysh, because that inadvertently puts so much pressure on 'em.

We've got years ahead to dish about their behind-the-scenes naughtiness. It's what makes it fun for us and fun for them to keep it under the radar. No muss, no fuss. Just how Rob and K.Stew like it.

R & K have the perf personality types for couple status because they're both so laid-back, generous (on many levels, with themselves, others, too) and passionate, and they couldn't give an ef what anyone else or rags say about 'em. Isn't that why we love them together?

Of course, the guy can't help it if girls fall for him. Rumors even have it that even Emilie is also crushing on him now.

This is evidently ruining Rob's image, saying he's basically a player - hooks up with any girl in sight, and sleeps around. I really think they need to respect his privacy, he's already got it hard with the Papz following him everywhere and documenting his every move. It's not fair! Why don't you put yourself in his shoes? Like the old, but truthful, saying goes: "Treat others the way you wish to be treated." Just think about that..

Columnist says "Sexy vampires are destroying our nation's children"

Saturday, June 13, 2009

There is a column at the Gainesville Sun entitled “Sexy vampires are destroying our nation’s children”–which explains why Twilight and True Blood are the cause of all evil with our nation’s youth. No, I’m not kidding–

"Despite the recent influx of vampire-related content into the mainstream media and the youthful enthusiasm that accompanied it, vampirism still remains a dangerous threat to our nation’s children. Unchecked interest in vampires can lead to unfortunate summer wardrobe choices, rickets and diabetes. We can’t afford to lose our kids to these flashy, sexy, fly-by-night vampire impersonators who continue to fill their heads with untruths about the vampire lifestyle."

Taylor Lautners Post-'Twilight' Plan

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

I ran accross this article, and just had to share it with you. Taylor Launters going to be BIG. With his profile higher than the crowd at Coachella, Taylor Lautner is probably being inundated with big screen offers -- especially since Sunday's seriously sexy snaps surfaced. And while he is committed to star in all the "Twilight" saga films, Taylor has started fielding offers for some new non-wolf roles.

So let's break down the three leading contenders following a surprising meeting the lad had in Hollywood yesterday!

The on-screen incarnation of Jacob Black was seen leaving a meeting with Hollywood heavyweight producer/writer/director Garry Marshall ("Pretty Woman," "Beaches," "Overboard"). I did a little digging and found three films currently on Garry's plate -- lets figure out which one Taylor was there to talk about!

Potential Film #1: "Valentine's Day"I first talked about this upcoming big screen ensemble mid-May and think this is the most likely option. It's an ensemble rom-com starring Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Bradley Cooper and Ashton Kutcher. I'm assuming Taylor is in talks to play Anne's mail room assistant boyfriend since she's the most age-appropriate on-screen lovah.

Potential Film #2 -- "Dear Eleanor"The story of two 14-year-old girls who travel across American during the '60s amid the Cuban Missile Crisis. Abagail Breslin might play Max the Wax, one of the leading ladies, who finds herself crossing paths with a variety of colorful characters. Taylor could play one of the vaudeville performers, or any other assorted potential love interest for either of the ladies.

Potential Film #3 -- "There Goes the Neighborhood"A dark comedy about a run-of-the-mill couple who learn their apple pie neighbor and his kids are a little too friendly and find themselves forced to defend their house with their lives. Taylor could play one of the creepy kids, whose smiley exterior masks a much more insidious agenda. The riskiest role of the three, but the gamble could pay off in a big way if it shows Hollywood he's more than a pretty face.

New Moon is going to be a "heartbreaker"

* SPOILER ALERT *

If you've read the books, you'll know what Taylor means. But I really think that because we're you know, seeing it visually in a movie rather than in our heads reading a book, it's going to be even more heartbreaking... when Edward leaves Bella..

Twilight sequel New Moon is set to be a heartbreaking film, according to star Taylor Lautner.

"There is heart break and, oh it's horrible," the actor, who plays werewolf Jacob Black in the franchise, told Access Hollywood.

"New Moon will rip your heart to shreds. So get ready!"

Taylor and co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart introduced the trailer for the second hotly anticipated movie at the MTV awards on Sunday.

The film sees Jacob transform into a werewolf, which turned out to be a bit of an ordeal, according to the actor.

"I was shirtless, all I was wearing was shorts. We were in 35-degree weather," he said.
"They poured rain on us, which is like iced cold. And the scene was like four minutes long and I'm just sitting there and you can't look cold. I'm the only one. I'm just standing there like basically naked with everybody like bundled up in this ice cold weather."

MTV Movie Blog Article

Thursday, May 28, 2009

So I just HAD to post this, before I leave you all :) (for a few days)

It's an article from MTV Move Blog

Hey, look at that. The 2009 MTV Movie Awards are on THIS Sunday at 9pm EST. Did you know about it?

Yeah, I’m just playing. Obviously we’ve been pimping the upcoming MTVMAs for weeks now. And now it’s almost go time. You still have time to vote though, and you should if you haven’t already. Today’s category previews take a closer look at the competition for Best Fight and Best Female Performance.

I have to say, it’s a tough choice in the Best Fight category. My heart wants to believe that either Christian Bale/Heath Ledger in “The Dark Knight” or James Franco/Seth Rogen/Danny McBride in “Pineapple Express” will take it. I just don’t see it happening though. Not with the knockout punch of Robert Pattinson/Cam Gigandet in “Twilight.”

Ledger’s Joker performance will almost assuredly nab him a posthumous win for Best Villain, but I some how doubt that goodwill will carry over into another category, especially not one featuring two “Twilight” heartthrobs in a single selection. My heart wants what it wants, but I’m going to have to side with Larry and call “Twilight” on this one.

Picking a top contender for Best Female Performance is also a rough choice, though for a totally different reason: I’ve seen less than half of the selections. While I thoroughly enjoyed “Wanted” and Angelina Jolie’s performance in it, I don’t really see it winning any awards. As with Best Fight, I’m going to have to heed the numbers on this one. “Twilight” is freakin’ huge. Which means Kristen Stewart’s Bella wins.

What are your picks for Best Fight/Best Female Performance? Do you see any flaws in my “‘Twilight’ is massive” logic? Even if you don’t, who would you LIKE to see win?

Weitz Reveals Why Montepluciano Was Chosen Over Volterra

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Twilight Italia was lucky enough to be the only Twilight Blog in attendance at a press conference with Chris Weitz in the last couple of days and have posted about it on their site. During the press conference Chris was asked about choosing Montepulciano for the Italy scenes, here is what Twilight Italia have to say about it (translated by google, not necessarily 100% accurate)-
"I add here that, following a question about why the choice is its fallout on the city that is hosting the filming, Chris Weitz said that he opted for a need for symmetry and photography. It also took the occasion to say that both cities are beautiful.

He added that if there is someone to "blame" for this decision then that's him because he was a very strong wish of the square instead of Montepulciano to Volterra. And I tell you my impression when he spoke you could see clearly that he has done a very professional choice based on that of which in his view, the film needed to make up. I have never concealed that among people who appreciate this director, so I am sure that has worked and is working to make a New Moon really the best."

5 Things The New Moon Teaser Poster Tells Us

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Thanks to TwiFans for the article!

Edward Is Tortured...and suspicious? - Well of course he’s tortured, that’s his general state of mind. Also, consider the fact that he’s supposed to be feeling guilty for leaving Bella and you might even be able to read regretful in the look. Suspicious? Most definitely. Jacob is in the picture now AND he’s a werewolf. We think he’s a little angry too. The obviously defensive Jacob won’t even turn to face him, which Edward undoubtedly considers disrespectful and I’m sure he’s wondering why Bella won’t look at him.

Bella Isn’t Looking at Anyone – Jacob is turning to look at Edward, Edward is looking back at Bella and Bella is looking at, well, no one. She’s confused, that’s undeniable. However, we think it looks like she’s staring at something else entirely, as if she doesn’t want either Jacob or Edward. And does she look a little vacant? Perhaps Kristen Stewart is acting like heartbroken “zombie” Bella or maybe (as many people think) it’s a reflection of the actress’ less than superb acting ability. Could it be that she’s just trying to look sexy?

Jacob’s Hair Is Short – Jacob’s cropped cut leads us to believe the picture takes place after Jacob makes his werewolf change. He’s also looking super buff. Ok, it’s definitely taken post-wolf time. But, if that’s the case, why so many clothes?

Bella Is Stuck in Back – Strange, right? While it makes sense that Edward and Jacob are protecting her, it’s odd that she’s not in the center of the group. It almost seems like the movie is more about the drama between Edward and Jacob, and less about the love triangle between the three.

They All Look Hot – There’s no surprise here, especially in Edward’s case. He is chiseled, Jacob is huge and Bella’s skin is almost as perfect as a vampire. We also noticed that they all look a lot more mature? But wait a second. Is that chest hair on Edward? If memory serves, his chest is supposed to be smooth and marble-like. So why the pelt?

'New Moon' Filming Details

Life & Style Talks New Moon

Thursday, May 21, 2009

Here is what Life & Style had to say in their exclusive on New Moon. Thank you to Twilight Blog for the article!

1) Bella takes a more daredevil approach in the film, pushing fate in order to make Edward appear to her. While Bella does do some of this in the book, apparently she does it more so in the movie.

2) Since Robert Pattinson is what draws a lot of people to the Twilight saga movies filmmakers couldn't resist his draw. Instead of only being a voice in Bella's head he is more like an apparition (like Obi-Wan in Star Wars). Rob himself expressed his thoughts on this: "I really wanted it to be a complete absence. It’s easier to give it more power at the end if I’m completely absent."

3) When Laurent is destroyed by the werewolves in New Moon there isn't much of a fight due to his being out numbered. However, in the movie there will be an action-packed scene with Laurent fighting back against the werewolves.

4) At the end of New Moon Edward gives a sort of ultimatum if you will to Bella. In the book Edward says he will only turn Bella (into a vampire) if she marries him. The movie, not so much-apparently he others a slightly different ultimatum.

Basically all that Perez mentioned on his gossip website.

Personally, I think that this movie will be fantastic.

How about you guys?

Rob's 23rd Birthday Party

Friday, May 15, 2009

Thanks to Celebrity Fix at Ninemsn.com.au

I know, I'm very late with Rob's 23rd bday party pictures. And for that, I am sorry. Every other Twilight fan website put a post like this up days ago. I am so late! But here goes, here's some pictures and an article from the site above. Better late than never, right?

Enjoy, twilovers.

Edward Cullen may be 17 forever, but Robert Pattinson still gets to have birthdays — the Twilight hottie turned 23 on Wednesday.

To celebrate, he took a break from filming in Vancouver and enjoyed a night out on the town with his New Moon co-stars.

Rob hit the Glowbal Grill and Satay Bar with Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene and Jamie Campbell Bower where they guzzled down cocktails and shooters in the restaurant's VIP area. But the crowd didn't stay small for long… their whereabouts was posted on Twitter and pretty soon a hoard of obsessed Twilight fans showed up to wish the poor guy a happy birthday.

"I was so happy to see Rob and help him celebrate his 23rd birthday," said one crazed Twilightophile. "He took the time to meet us and take a picture with us, that was so cool."
Aww, what a sweet guy. We would have had them removed by security.

After dinner Rob ditched the obsessed tweens and headed to a club, eventually returning to his hotel in the early hours of the morning looking a little bit worse for wear.

Alex Meraz: Verbally assualted by fan

Friday, May 8, 2009

A new article, by New Moon Movie, is all about Alex Meraz, who plays werewolf - Paul, being told off because a fan didn't like his character.

Alex Meraz, who plays the badboy wolf Paul in New Moon, reveals that a fan took his role a bit too seriously, giving him a hard time for the character he is playing–

“Someone started yelling at me because they didn’t like my character,” Meraz told us last night at a Carrera Vintage Sunglasses party at the Chateau Marmont hotel.

“I play a bad boy, so she got mad at me,” he added. “She said, ‘I hate you, Paul!’ That was the craziest thing for me—being confused for a character.”

Meraz’s response to the hater?…

“I yelled back at her, ‘I love you, too!’” he said.

He also revealed that he doesn’t think he can compare to Robert Pattinson in the sex symbol category (I beg to differ!)–

“I’m happy to have just a smidgen of what he’s got…I’m not worried about being a sex symbol.”
