'Vampire Diaries' Teaser Trailer

Here's a video of the 'Vampire Diaries', a TV show created from the romance series, The Vampire Diaries' by L.J. Smith. It's another vampire love story, except this time it's a girl torn between two brothers, one good one evil. Maybe it sounds cliche or cheesy to some of you, but I've heard this is a really good book that's well written, very entertaining and engaging. Has anyone read these series?

BIO: Heidi

Name: Heidi

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Lures People/Fisher

About Them: Heidi is a member of the Volturi in Italy. She is know as the fisherman and the bait. She lures humans to the Volturi for various reasons including to be the next meal. Beautiful beyond description and the perfected image of grace, Heidi tempts all she comes near. She appears heartless (no pun intended) as she enjoys and relishes her job and has no pity on any who suffer under her suffocating presence. We first meet Heidi when she in counters Edward Bella underneath Volterra: "She was dressed to emphasize that beauty. Her amazingly long legs, darkened with tights, were exposed by the shortest of miniskirts. Her top was long-sleeved and high-necked, but extremely close-fitting, and was constructed of red vinyl. Her long mahogany hair was lustrous, and her eyes were the strangest shade of violet-a color that might result from blue-tinted contacts over red irises."

Their Early History: Nothing is known of Heidi during her early years as a vampire nor how she can to be a vampire. That remains a mystery to Twilight readers.

BIO: Felix

Name: Felix

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: None

About Them: Felix is one of the guards of the legendary Volturi. A violent person who is very strict Felix enjoys serving out punishment to people who disobey the Volturi laws. He is one of the members of the guard who attempts to kill Edward Cullen for the crime of exposing the vampire race when Edward believes Bella is lost to him (dead). Edward was found to have not committed but Felix still wishes for Edward's destruction. Felix is seen as "very big, tall, and thick" much like the size of Emmett Cullen. He has an olive complexion which looks odd combined with his chalky pallor. Short cut hair that is jett completes his physical oddities. Unlike most vampires, especially those in the Volturi, Felix does not have a special ability.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about Felix as a human, how he was turned into a vampire, or how he joined the Volturi.

BIO: Alec

Name: Alec

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Blocks the senses

About Them: A member of the Volturi's guards, Alec is able to block people's senses. His extremely powerful gift can make people blind, deaf, and numb to any feeling if he wishes to. Unlike many of the vampires his gift is visibly and it appears in the form of a clear hazy mist. We learn of Alec's power in Breaking Dawn when he attempts to use it on the Cullen family's gathered witnesses. However, the mist hit Bella's 'shield' and went around it as Bella's shield was a bubble protecting the people gathered. Alec did not retract his mist for the entire confrontation in the field as he constantly looked for holes or weak spots in Bella's shield. Twin to Jane, Alec is nearly identical to with the slightly darker hair and lips that aren’t quite as full.

Their Early History: The Volturi early on had spot the young human twins Jane and Alec and saw them as potential people to change. However, frightened humans threatened to burn the twins at the stake so Aro was forced to change them sooner then he wished to as he wanted them to be older.

BIO: Demetri

Name: Demetri
Type: Vampire
Special Ability: Tracker

About Them: Demetri is a member of the empire like Volturi who can can track anyone once he has the tenor of their mind. He can sense and is drawn to a person's mind once he has the ability to recognize it. It is impossible to escape him just as it is impossible to escape (unless you are Bella who is protected from mind-based abilities) Edward being able to read your mind. Appearing very polite, Demetri is a formidable foe. He has an olive complexion with a chalky pallor, dark hair that reaches his shoulders, and crimson eyes. Tall and lean, it also appears that Demetri has a crush on Heidi.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about Demetri before the start of the series. His character remains elusive about his past and we know nothing about how he came to be a vampire, how he came to the Volturi, and how he started to serve under them.

Bio: Jane

Name: Jane

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Creates Mental Illusions of Pain

About Them: Jane is a vampire in coven known as the Volturi who reside in Volterra, Italy. They are regarded as "royalty" by other vampires because they have lived for well over three thousand years and act as police, enforcing the rule that the existence of vampires be kept a secret from humans. They often send others to travel from Volterra to prevent overzealous covens and renegade vampires from exposing their species. They are guarded by several powerful vampires who have been collected for their powers and skills. Jane is among the Volturi guards due to her ability to create illusions of pain. Jane was there in New Moon when Edward tries to dig him, Alice, and Bella out of the situation he has created. Jane is the one who tortures Edward until he falls and cries out in pain. Jane leads the rest of the Volturi guards in Eclipse to see what the disturbance is in Washington. However, she arrives only after the Cullen family along with the werewolves finish off the hoard of young vampires created by Victoria. Distrusting the Cullen family, Jane is snide and chooses to harass them anyways. Jane is last seen in Breaking Dawn when she comes with the whole of the Volturi to finish off the Cullen coven. However, since her abilities are only mental, Jane is unable to attack the Cullens, werewolves, and everybody else there to protect the Cullen family as Bella shields them all from her attacks. Angry that her abilities she has always been proud of failed her against Bella's shield, Jane is reluctant to walk away from the fight and remains bitter.

BIO: Marcus

Name: Marcus

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Can sense relationships

About Them: Marcus was once one of the prominent leaders of the Volturi in Volterra, Italy. He has the ability to sense relationships and his former wife who is now deceased, Didyme, had the ability to make others happy. After the sudden and shocking death of Didyme Marcus became extremely apathetic and disinterested in life. As a result he voted against destroying little Renesmee in an 'almost bored fashion' without so much as a glance to the Cullens and their allies. Marcus has jett black hair with the fiery red eyes.Stephenie Meyer says this of Marcus' ability: "Marcus’s gift is actually quite valuable in the hands of someone who knows how to use it. For example, imagine Marcus on the battle field. He sees the binding ties between the enemy the guard faces. He can tell who the leader is just by watching the way the others are tied to him or her. He can see how to destroy the resistance simply by picking off a few key people. He doesn’t just see romantic relationships, but also ties of family and friends, loyalty and devotion. He can tell if any given person would die for another. Off the field of battle (as the Volturi rarely leave their home), Marcus’s gift is valuable politically (for lack of a better word). It’s an amazing gift in a diplomatic situation. Plus, when you’re sitting on an empire, it’s nice to be able to see when someone’s loyalty starts wavering. Or if anyone is getting too fond of anyone else. Can you see the potential now? Marcus didn’t get where he is with some fluff skill."

Their Early History: Nothing is known about much of Marcus' early history. We do know that he was a vampire not long after Aro's transformation and joined him promptly in the quest for power. After Didyme's transformation by her brother Aro Marcus fell in love and married her but it wasn't long before a jealous and angry Aro murdered his own sister, Didyme, for the sake of power. Whether unfortunately or fortunately, Marcus never knew Aro had been the one who killed Didyme.

BIO: Caius

Name: Caius

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: No Known Power

About Them: Caius is married to fellow vampire, Athenodora. With pale skin that is almost translucent and shoulder length hair white as his skin, Caius moves with such grace that he appears to be floating. He is a leader of the Volturi along with Marcus and Aro who have special abilities each. Caius tends to be the stubborn and demanding one of the Volturri as he was ardent that Bella should not be allowed to leave Italy alive. When Aro allowed Bella to leave Volterra alive under the assumption that Edward planned to change Bella in the near future, Caius was extremely disappointed. Aro, however, assured Caius that they would again try to persuade the Cullen family to join the Volturi. Caius does not have an special gift but he is clever and devises brilliant schemes and provokes those around him into deathly fear.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about how Caius became a vampire or how he found Marcus and Aro and founded the Volturi. His human life is a mystery to Twilight fans and will probably remain so.

BIO: Aro

Name: Aro

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Can read the thoughts of those he has been in physical contact with

About Them: Aro is the ultimate leader of the ancient vampire coven known as the Volturi that resides in Volterra, Italy. Regarded as "royalty" by other vampires because they have lived for well over three thousand years and act as police, they enforcing the rule that vampires' existence remain a secret from humans. They often send others to travel from Volterra to prevent overzealous covens and renegade vampires from exposing their kind. Aro is gifted with the ability to read every thought a person has ever had once he has made physical contact. Aro does have a wife, named Sulpicia. Aro typically does have good intentions when dealing the the Cullen family coven and Bella but tends to become over zealous and therefore loses control at points. A commanding leader and respected vampire among all, Aro is a force to be reckoned with.

Their Early History: Nothing is exposed of the long years that Aro has been a vampire. a few hints are made at his past during Carlisle's remembrance of his time with the Volturi but nothing can be discerned. Readers will have to be content with yet another vampire mystery in the Twilight saga. Perhaps more will be discovered about Aro in New Moon the film.

BIO: Laurent

Name: Laurent

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: None

About Them: A dark-haired and abnormal olive-toned vampire, Laurent is a member of James' coven along with Victoria. When James and Victoria choose to track and murder Bella due to James’ obesession, Laurent warns the Cullen family of James’ lethal abilities. Laurent then leaves James and Victoria both and travels to Denali, Alaska in hopes of finding solace among another coven of "vegetarian" vampires. However, Laurent struggles to adopt their strict diet of drinking animal blood, and so he "cheats" by occasionally feeding on humans. During his extended stay-which was hard for a nomadic vampire such as himself-he takes a special liking to a vampire named Irina, though the infatuation is not strong enough to keep him there. Later in the saga Laurent returns to Forks in as a favor to Victoria but during this visit he stumbles across Bella and in his weakened, hungry state tries to kill her. Yet Bella was not alone as Jacob and his werewolf pack ambushed Laurent and subsequently destroyed him.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about Laurent prior to Twilight. How and when he became a vampire is a mystery and how he ended up in James’ coven is left up to our imagination. We do know one piece of information however, as Laurent when warning the Cullen family about James, he states that “I have never seen anything like him in all of my 300 years.”

BIO: Victoria

Name: Victoria
Type: Vampire
Special Ability: Knows Where Safe Places Are

About Them: A red-haired, feline-like vampire, Victoria, is originally a member of James' coven. She plays a small role in assisting James, her lover and coven leader, in hunting Bella Swan due to his fantasies. Victoria is capable of digging up information on anybody and in anyway. After James is killed, she decides to exact revenge on Edward Cullen by plotting to kill his partner, Bella, in return for Edward having killed her partner. However, Bella is sufficiently protected from her wrath by the Quileute werewolves. About a year later, Victoria creates an army of bloodthirsty newborn vampires in Seattle to rise up against the combined forces of the werewolves and Cullen family. During this battle, both she and her new fighting partner, Riley, are destroyed by Edward and the young werewolf Seth Clearwater. Her supernatural talent is an ability to know the safe place to escape to. Always aware and cunning makes Victoria lethal in her own right.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about Victoria prior to Twilight. How and when she became a vampire is a mystery and how she ended up in James’ coven is left up to our imagination.

BIO: James WItherdale

Name: James Witherdale
Type: Vampire
Special Ability: Tracker

About Them: James Whitherdale is depicted as a merciless "tracker" vampire who hunts human beings just for the sport of it. Fellow coven member Laurent says that James is unusually gifted at what he does (tracking) and always gets what he wants and Laurent hasn’t seen anything like him in his 300 years. Unlike the vegetarian Cullen family, James drinks human blood as his food source. At the end of Twilight, James is dismembered by Emmett and Jasper and set on fire (thus permanently destroyed) after luring Bella to an empty ballet studio and nearly killing her. The shimmery scar left by his venomous bite still remains on Bella's wrist as a symbol of his unsuccessful attempt on her life. James is described as having light brown hair and being quite unremarkable and average-looking.

Their Early History: Nothing is known about James’ past until later in the saga when it is revealed that a then-human Alice Cullen escaped his clutches some time ago by being turned into a vampire before James could attack. Apparently Bella was not the first human to make James go into a frenzy.

BIO: Emmett Cullen

Name: Emmett Cullen

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: None

About Them: Emmett Cullen, originally born Emmett McCarty adopted son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, adopted brother of Edward, Alice, and Jasper, and Rosalie's husband. Known for his bear like appearance, Emmett is described as being tall, burly, extremely muscular, and to most humans, the most intimidating of his adoptive siblings. He has slightly curly dark hair and dimpled cheeks. He loves to tease the people he loves and uses his intimidating presence to sometimes push some issues.

Their Early History: In 1935 while living in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Emmett, who was then twenty, was mauled by a bear. The injuries from the attack were so severe that he would not live. He was found by Rosalie, who had been hunting in the area at the time. Seeing Emmett she was reminded of her friend's baby having the same curls, dimples, and innocent appearance. Refusing to let Emmett die, Rosalie carried him over a hundred miles to Appalachia back to Carlisle Cullen, asking him to spare Emmett's life by turning him into a vampire. Emmett joined Carlisle's coven, but initially had trouble adjusting to the family's diet of animal blood. Emmett is at first wary of Bella, knowing Edward’s internal struggle with her and eventually romantic relationship, but eventually warms up to her. He often teases her for her clumsiness and constant blushing, and eventually votes in favor of her becoming a vampire. Emmett’s teasing continues until Bella beats him in an arm wrestling match when she is a newborn vampire in Breaking Dawn.

BIO: Rosalie Hale

Name: Rosalie Hale

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: None

About Them: Born Rosalie Lillian Hale, Rosalie Hale is the adopted daughter of Esme and Carlisle Cullen, adoptive sister of Edward, Alice, and Jasper, and wife of Emmett. Rosalie throughout the books acts as the sister of Jasper and that they are Esme’s niece and nephew. Gorgeous even compared to other vampires, Rosalie acts and looks like a model. She is mean to Bella due to jealousy of her being human, and not wanting Bella to choose a life as a vampire. Rosalie is known for being vain and self centered. She wishes to be human and have children so much so that she would give up her immortality and beauty for it. Rosalie eventually warms up to Bella and wishes to reveal her past to Bella with the hopes that she will choose to stay human. She also joins the fight against a group of savage newborn vampires. With her new bond with Bella, Bella contacts Rosalie after finding out she is pregnant, knowing that Rosalie has always wanted children. Rosalie stays by Bella's side throughout the pregnancy, defending her choice to keep the baby, and Rosalie acts as a guardian to the child, Renesmee, taking care of her while Bella is going through her transformation into a vampire.

Their Early History: Frozen at age eighteen and born in 1915 in Rochester, New York, Rosalie was the daughter of a banker. Tall, statuesque, and has long, wavy blonde hair, Rosalie is described as being the most beautiful person in the world. As a human, Rosalie was a woman who had beauty, elegance, class, and eyes resembling violets. A quick engagement with Royce King II led Rosalie to become extremely envious of her good friend Vera and her baby boy. While visiting them one night she noticed that she did not share the same relationship with Royce as Vera did with her husband. But on her walk home and Rosalie met an intoxicated Royce with his friends. Royce bragged about his fiancée's beauty, leading to her being beaten, presumably raped, and left to die. Carlisle came across her as he was a doctor in Rochester at the time and decided to change her into a vampire (hoping she would be a mate for Edward). After her transformation, she tortured and killed those who had beaten her, including Royce, but did not drink their blood.

BIO: Jasper Hale

Name: Jasper Hale

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Can manipulate the emotions of those around him

About Them: Jasper Hale, originally born Jasper Whitlock, is the adopted son of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, adoptive brother of Edward, Emmett, and Rosalie, and husband of Alice. Due to his past, where he was able to feed on humans whenever he chose, Jasper lacks strong self-control. However, we also find that the "vegetarian" lifestyle is not Jasper's first choice and that this also affects his self-control. Tall with honey blond hair, muscular but yet lean, Jasper portrays his special ability well. Having learned at a young age as a human how to manipulate the emotions of those around him, his ability became exaggerated as a vampire. Now making him able to control the atmosphere of those he is around-calming tense people and other emotions that may be needed in his favor. His body is covered with crescent-shaped scars, after the many years of fighting, training, and executing newborn vampires. Jasper uses his ability to calm Bella when she is stressed or afraid. However, his lack of self control is evident as he attacks Bella after she gets a paper cut, prompting the Cullen family to leave Forks to protect Bella. Jasper again uses his ability to create a calm and un-tense atmosphere when he teaches the werewolves and vampires fighting techniques to defend themselves against newborn vampires.

Their Early History: Jasper Hale was born in Texas and joined the Confederate States Army in 1861 to serve in the Civil War. Due to his extremely charismatic personality, he ascended through the ranks quickly. In 1863 Maria, a vampire, found Jasper when he was twenty years old and turned him into a vampire. Recognizing his high rank in the army, Maria decided to change him into a vampire, thinking he would help her claim territory in Monterrey. Overseeing the training of the young vampires, Jasper also held the responsibility to execute them when they were no longer useful (about a year after their transformation- when their strength began to fade). Jasper grew weary of the lifestyle and left, joining an old friend, Peter, and his mate Charlotte. Feeling his prey’s emotions, even as they died, Jasper eventually left Peter and Charlotte, as he no longer wanted to feed on humans. Alice, foreseeing that they would be together, met him in a half-empty diner in Philadelphia, and together they sought out the Cullen family.

BIO: Esme Cullen

Name: Esme Cullen

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: None

About Them: Esme Cullen, originally born Esme Anne Platt -and later Esme Anne Evenson- is the wife of Carlisle Cullen and the adoptive mother of Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper. Esme enjoys restoring old houses-which is proved when she restored an old house for both Rosalie and Emmett upon their marriage and Edward and Bella as well. Esme is frozen at age twenty-six and has no special ability. But yet, she has a strong ability to love passionately-she loves the people in her life with such a passion that cannot be denied. Esme stands 5’6” with caramel-colored hair. Her radiant heart-shaped face has dimples, and her figure is slender, yet rounded and soft. Esme reveals her past to Bella during the Cullen’s baseball game in Twilight. Esme is the stable mother Bella never had and treats her as her own daughter, including comforting her after several traumatic events. Esme also owns a South American island named "Isle Esme" that was purchased for her by Carlisle, and it is there that she allows Edward and Bella to spend their honeymoon.

Their Early History: Esme was born in the late 1800s and lived in Columbus, Ohio. It was there where she was treated at the age of sixteen by Carlisle after breaking her leg when climbing a tree. She married Charles Evenson at a young age, but was abused by him. After finding out she was pregnant, she ran away and gave birth to a son, who subsequently died a few days later. Devastated by her son’s death, Esme attempted to kill herself by jumping off of a cliff. Presumed dead, Esme was brought to a morgue. Carlisle, who remembered treating her years before, was able to sense her heartbeat and changed her into a vampire. Esme and Carlisle fell in love and married soon after. She loves her adoptive children-Edward, Bella, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper- as much as she did her own son, but still grieves that she cannot bear children.

BIO: Carlisle Cullen

Name: Carlisle Cullen

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: None

About Them: Carlisle Cullen, born Stregoni Benefici, is Esme's husband and the adoptive father of Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper. Carlisle whose physical age is twenty-three and he is described as looking like a model. He has blond hair, stands at 6’2” and is slender but muscular. Carlisle theorizes that when a human is turned into a vampire, they will have an enhanced ability from their previous life. So according to his theory Carlisle believes he brought compassion from his human life. Carlisle has had centuries to perfect his medicinal talents, therefore making him an excellent doctor. Unlike most vampires, he is not at all tempted by the scent of human blood, due to the over 300 years he has spent holding back his temptations. While Carlisle has no special ability, he is able to have serious self-control and can hardly smell the scent of human blood while he is working. Throughout the Twilight saga, Carlisle works as a doctor, acting as the coven leader and offering medical advice and help whenever Bella is in need.

Their Early History: Carlisle Cullen was born in 1640’s and was the son of an Anglican pastor in London, England during a time of religious upheaval. His father and other pastors would hunt down creatures such as witches, werewolves, and vampires, and often mistook humans for them. As his father aged, Carlisle was put in charge. One night, he was attacked by a vampire and left to die on the streets. Knowing he would not be accepted by society, he hid himself and silently went through the painful transformation, emerging as a vampire. Horrified, he tried various methods of killing himself, but nothing worked. One night, he could endure hunger no longer and fed on a group of passing deer. Subsequently realizing that he did not have to live off humans, he set out to perfect his resistance to blood lust and become a doctor. For a short time, Carlisle lived with the Volturi, though he eventually left and traveled to the New World.

While treating patients with the Spanish Influenza, he met a woman who begged him to do whatever he could to save her son, Edward. Out of loneliness, Carlisle transformed him into a vampire and Edward became his companion. In 1921, Carlisle moved to Wisconsin where he treated Esme after a failed suicide attempt brought on by the loss of her infant son. Carlisle felt compelled to save her life and subsequently fell in love with her. Carlisle then transformed Rosalie Hale, a young woman who was almost killed by her drunken fiancé and his friends in Rochester, New York, and left in the street to die. While hunting, Rosalie later found a young man named Emmett who had been mauled by a bear, and carried him over 100 miles to Carlisle. Carlisle then changed Emmett, since Rosalie was unwilling to do it herself for fear of blood lust overwhelming her. After Carlisle changed Emmett, Carlisle and his family moved to Hoquiam, Washington, where they made a treaty with the Quileute Native American tribe. The treaty stated that the Quileutes would leave the Cullens alone if the Cullen family did not bite any humans or trespass on their land. The Cullens agreed to this treaty, and lived in relative peace until they had to move on. Between the Cullen’s first and second stay in Forks, Alice and Jasper joined his coven as well, having found Carlisle on their own.

BIO: Alice Cullen

Name: Alice Cullen

Type: Vampire

Special Ability: Sees the future

About Them: Alice Cullen was originally born as Mary Alice Brandon and is the adopted daughter of Carlisle and Esme Cullen, adopted sister of Edward, Rosalie, and Emmett Cullen, and wife to Jasper. She is a petite at 4’ 10”, pixie-like, has crazy spiked dark hair and is described as being graceful, bubbly, and optimistic. Alice’s special ability of seeing the future is an enhanced version of her having premonitions as a human. However, her ability is limited as she is only able to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Therefore, Alice cannot see decisions made in the spur of the moment. There is one other quirk in Alice’s ability-she cannot see the future of werewolves and half-breeds, only humans and vampires. Alice theorizes that she can see vampires clearly because she is one, humans somewhat less clearly because she was one, and blind to werewolves or half-breeds because she never was one. Her hobbies include shopping, make-overs, and throwing parties.

Their Early History: In the beginning of the Twilight Saga Alice's early history is very vague, as she remembers nothing of her human life when woke up alone as a vampire. Eventually we find that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was kept in an asylum because she had premonitions. Alice was changed by an old vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from James, a tracker vampire who was hunting her. Later after doing some research, Alice finds her grave and discovers that the date on her tombstone matches the date of her admission to the asylum.
